Hello Boxer Haven Rescue! I just wanted to check in and give you an update on how life is treating me now that I have my forever home with Marcia and Joe and Violet. Violet is my six year old deaf boxer sister. I did get some much needed training after I moved in with Marcia, Joe, and Violet. They even got me my very own teacher and I learned lots of obedience. I have learned that barking at and jumping on people at the door is not necessary. I am doing much better walking on a leash; staying, and coming on command. I am also refraining from counter surfing and learning how to respect my people! I am working hard in group lessons and my people are going to take me for my AKC Canine Good Citizen testing. My people would say that I go to bed and wake up each day happy, playful and lovable. I spend all day pulling ALL my toys out of the toy box because I have to be fair and play with each and every one of them. I LOVE running around and playing with my new sister. My Mommy takes me on daily runs and I have found my new life passion of being the resident LOVE BUG in our house. My Mommy says that I am a sweet boy with happy spirits. She would like to say thank you to Boxer Haven Rescue for matching us up! She says that I am a PERFECT addition to their family.
This is Beau checking in…
March 30, 2010How to keep us ACTIVE….
March 27, 2010As boxers we are very active dogs and here are some ideas on keeping us active when we can’t get outside to run and play. We like to play fetch with a ball you can throw it up or down a set of stairs but be careful because we don’t want to hurt ourselves. Or you could throw it down a long hallway. We wouldn’t mind playing a game of tug of war; we might have to let you win once so you don’t cry J but more than likely you will be tired before we are ready to quit. Although none of these replace a good walk or run this can keep us busy inside. We are so excited that that weather here in Michigan is getting warmer. We are READY to get outside and play for a longer period of time, winter in Michigan is really COLD.
What is a boxer….
March 25, 2010We are fun loving, playful, and energetic. We show great love and faithfulness to our owners. We are great family dogs and LOVE children. We love to provide companionship to adults or children as a running companion, or just to cuddle with. We have a bright and friendly temperament at play but are brave and determined to protect. We are very ACTIVE dogs and require adequate exercise to prevent boredom; that could lead to “bad dog” behavior such as chewing or digging. We are medium in size and have short hair. We are usually fawn, brindle or white in color.
